Ice Breaker at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (MON, 8th July 2024)
The Social Events’ program will kick off with an Ice Breaker on Monday, July 8th, in the spacious gardens of the San Giobbe Economics Campus, conveniently situated at the conference venue.

Welcome Reception at the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal (TUE, 9th July 2024)
The Welcome Reception will take place at the splendid Sala del Ridotto at the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal, taking visitors back to the times of Giacomo Casanova. Italy’s infamous heartthrob of the 18th century used to frequent the Ridotto, which at that time had been a casino, taking advantage of the hidden passages and staircases (which can still be discovered today throughout the hotel) to escape from his romantic adventures. Situated at the vibrant heart of historic Venice, this classic Venetian Palace is directly overlooking the Grand Canal and just a few steps from Saint Mark’s Square.

Gala Dinner at the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort (WED, 10th July 2024)
After experiencing the stunning atmosphere of Venice’s centuries-old glorious past at the welcome reception, the Gala Dinner will allow its participants to delve into the recent glamorous history of Venice, taking them to a venue beloved by movie stars and celebrities – the extraordinary Hotel Excelsior Lido Resort. Built with the aim to create the most luxurious hotel in the world, this lavish complex, uniquely situated at the marvelous Venice Lido, after its opening in 1908 soon became a must-stay destination for the rich and famous, with personalities like Winston Churchill, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Marlene Dietrich, Barbara Hutton, John Steinbeck, Ingrid Bergman and the Aga Khan on their guest list.

Having hosted its first ever edition in 1932, the Hotel Excelsior Lido Resort has now become the official venue of the world-famous Venice Film Festival, one of the “Big Five” International film festivals worldwide, in which the Golden Lion (Leone d’Oro) is awarded, regarded as one of the film industry’s most prestigious prizes. Thus, in recent years, the Hotel Excelsior Lido Resort has accommodated red-carpet stars like Johnny Depp, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.
Movie connaisseurs might also recognize that the conference banquet will take place in the dining hall in which the ‘Long Island’ restaurant scene from the movie “Once Upon a Time in America”, directed by Sergio Leone and starring Robert de Niro, was shot.
Please note that for the Gala Dinner, transportation from the conference venue to the event location will be provided.
